About Maux-Made

Art from Thrifted Hearts

I’ve always loved second-hand things. As a kid I’d get so excited to go to thrift stores or inherit a bag of clothes from a friend or a sibling. As an adult, not much has changed, except that now I’m aware of how much excess we accumulate as a society. I’d like to think I help keep the landfills a tiny bit smaller.

During the pandemic, I made masks. Then I moved on to totebags and more, all from thrifted fabrics. My favorite make is my cat butt art. I use felted sweaters and thrifted beads and buttons, then mount the cats on thrifted fabrics and in thrifted frames.

Aside from creating new things from found materials, my favorite part of my job is meeting people in person. It’s so great when someone looks at a totebag and says, “I had those sheets when I was a kid!”
